Wa ayna akhtabi‘ou izan ( و أين أختبئ إذاً؟, that is, “And where can I hide?”) is a piece that combines polyphonic choral singing with Arabian maqam music. The result sounds like an encounter between Perotin and sung melodies from the Middle East – and that is no coincidence.
