Harald Feller’s Four Christmas Motets are an expression of individual aspects of the Christmas mystery. By means of colourfully arranged harmonies, freely floating rhythms and finely drawn melodies, the composer succeeds with these settings in moving both singers and audience in equal measure in their innermost selves. In the setting of O magnum mysterium, an expressive, very slow soprano melodic phrase, carried by colourful harmonies, gives particularly clear emphasis to the mystery of Christmas.
