This well-known German folksong that uses rosemary as a symbol of death is presented to great effect here in this arrangement. Mathias Rehfeldt manages to subtly transform the uncertain, oppressive and ultimately sorrowful mood. The familiar melody is woven into a sometimes more, sometimes less tightly vocal web; somber-spherical clusters that transport singers and audience to the world of dreams repeatedly create a feeling of inner turmoil. A rewarding and rousing concert piece!
