Hergouth's language is music, sonorous and rhythmic. The predominant intervals provided the original title (Sekunden - seconds) and the gentle dialogue hinted at in the text: Seconds and octaves resulted in a planar harmony on the one hand and an overlying lyrical line led mostly in octaves. Onomatopoeic elements formed the last part ("ticking"), woven with a quote from the opening bars. With English and German lyrics (Mond zwischen dir und mir).
