A bittersweet song about the blooming and fading of the delicate rose as an allegory for life and love by Peter Arnold Heise (1830–1879), arguably the most important Danish song composer of the 19th century, based on a poem by Christian Richardt (1831-1892). The subtle arrangement by Dominik J. Dieterle can be performed with the original Danish as well as with the German lyrics (Der wilde Rosenbusch) adapted from Heinrich Zschalig (1848–1929).
