Three Liquid Pieces Individual Work

“The Three Liquid Pieces are character pieces that I have associated with the properties of water. The flowing Toccata in the middle separates two more rebellious movements that behave more like an alpine brooklet: sometimes capricious, sometimes burbling. 
These three pieces – originally composed for the organ of the Dresden Church of Our Lady, where I premiered them – are broadly conceived: In this way, they can be performed on a large symphonic organ as well as on an economical small organ. The register and tempo instructions are, as always, to be regarded as appropriate to the respective space and instrument and not to be followed slavishly.” (Mathias Rehfeldt)
