Jan Wilke has structured the text of his motet O magnum mysterium in several clearly defined musical sections. The mildly dissonant language sounds secretive in accordance to the "mysterium" and - impressively brightening - leads to pure major chords at the end of each section. Thereby the tempo increases from the initial lento molto via andante to a joyously lively allegro in the Alleluia part. A sensational enrichment for Christmastime literature!
