Jan Wilke studied music education and music theory at the music academy in Mannheim, Germany as well as church music and choral conducting at the music academy for Church Music in Heidelberg. He completed a postgraduate course in choral conducting with Simon Halsey at the University of Birmingham. Already during his studies he conducted numerous choirs and was appointed artistic director of the Friedrich Spee Choir in Trier. He is presently living as a freelance choral conductor and composer in Heidelberg. He has already received a number of awards for his works, e.g. the Knapp Award for Choral Excellence of the Meistersingers choir in California.
