Today Caro mio ben arguably belongs to the most popular and listened-to arias of the 18th century. It is ascribed to the Italian composer Giuseppe Giordani who gained great fame most notably through his operas. Gwyn Arch makes subtle reference to the yearning lyrics of this aria – for instance, "senza di te languisce il cor" (without you my heart is weak) – in his choral arrangement. The expressive melody is underscored by the choir and is enwreathed by a delicate harpsichord or piano accompaniment. To be sung in Italian or English.
