Philip Breydels was born in 1963 in Wetteren (Belgium). He began his music studies at the Stokkel Music Academy and continued at the Leuven Conservatory in trumpet, chamber music, compositional technique and composition. Next to that, he successfully composed smaller pieces for concert band, a concerto for trumpet and strings and two concertos for oboe, trumpet, flute, violin and chamber orchestra. After finishing his studies in Leuven, numerous concerts took him to many European countries. In 1985 he was in the finale of the Trumpet Competition in Düsseldorf, in 1986 he was in the finals of the International Music Competition in Oxford. He then continued his studies in Paris and worked as a soloist in various Belgian orchestras.
