Materials Individual Work

This performance piece composed for experienced young pianists was awarded a prize in the Kompositionswettbewerb des 9. Stuttgarter Musikfests in 2016. It consists of four movements and combines elements of Korean folk music with modern compositional techniques, as well as cluster sounds. At its center are so-called “Gutgury Rhythmic Patterns”, which are integrated into Jung-Eun Park’s contemporary tonal language, using musical quotations, repetitions, overlappings, and transformations. This creates complex rhythmic structures in some parts of the music.
