Endymion was composed as a birthday present for the Spanish composer, Javier Busto. The motif of the mythical youth Endymion, taken up in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, forms the literary focal point of this choral piece by Michael Ostrzyga. The uniform rhythm of the slow tempo facilitates extensive soundscapes which stand out with special effect in places with a textual reference to moonlight and the sleeping youth.
