Martin Stampfl was born in in Hainersdorf in East Styria, Austria and studied music education, choral conducting and theology in Graz. He founded the youth chamber choir nota bene in 2007; moreover, he was a founding member and voice group leader of the Styrian Youth Choir Cantanima as well as a co-founder of the vocal ensemble Tin Men and infinity. Compositions and arrangements arose initially mainly for his formations; gradually commissioned works were added, as were successes at competitions. Martin Stampfl teaches music education and religion at the Pestalozzi Gymnasium (Pestalozzi High School) in Graz. He is also active as a choral conductor, singer and organist, among other things.
