Manuel Schuen

Born 1983 in Bruneck (South Tyrol) and grown up in the Ladin Badia Valley, he completed his studies in church music and organ performance at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). Since 2008 he has been the organist and director of church music at Vienna’s St. Michael Church. He is a bass singer and conductor of the Ensemble Vox Archangeli. From 2006 to 2017 he was the artistic director of the Unisono Choir Vienna. Time and again he is invited as an advisor at choir seminars and choir conducting courses. Since 2013 he has been a lecturer at the Institute for Organ, Organ Research and Church Music at the mdw and teaches basso continuo and Early Ensemble Music, among other subjects. He is a prizewinner of the Erwin Ortner Prize for the advancement of choral music. In 2022, he assumed the chairmanship of the music board of the Austrian Choral Association.
