"The ‘Suite Noël’ (Christmas Suite) arose from some ideas that I had while preparing for Christmas Eve. It depicts three images of the shepherds in the field: a pastorale suspended between calm and simple joy, a meditation that takes a romantic look at the night, and a toccata that vividly portrays the announcement of the choir of angels. All the movements are based on the song ‘Silent Night’. Sometimes more obvious, sometimes more concealed, it is always present.” (Mathias Rehfeldt)
