“The Silva Nigra Suite owes its name to the organ of the St. Blasien Cathedral. Located in the middle of the Black Forest, the scenery inspired me for this music. In accordance with the composition commission for the setting of a ‘popular choral concert’, it combines jazz elements with classical organ music and serves as a bridge between modern choral sounds and the venerable building of the episcopal cathedral.  It is dedicated to Prof. Ruben Sturm who premiered it in this present, revised version.” (Mathias Rehfeldt)
