This attractive piece, especially suitable for young performers, was prominently featured at the Kompositionswettbewerb des 9. Stuttgarter Musikfests in 2016. It was influenced in particular by the composer’s lengthier stay in Cambodia. It makes use of consciously reduced compositional materials. In addition to the persistent flageolet sound there are recurring pizzicati, small melody fragments and glissandi, in various modifications. Certain specified piano strings must be prepared with Patafix, creating peculiar sound effects. In sum, the music reminds one of a sparkling river flowing slowly by, filled with a great many small living creatures.
