In the second volume of his Gesten (Gestures), Stuttgart-based composer Jan Kopp presents ten more innovative miniatures that reveal new tonal and technical aspects of the instrument. Once again, musical-haptic movement patterns such as Rocking, Swimming, or Flying invite listeners on a special kind of pianistic journey of discovery. The pieces are even more rewarding in terms of composition and interpretation than those in the first volume. For this reason, mini-workshops are again included as rehearsal aids, providing performers with practical examples of the playing and accoustic possibilities of contemporary piano music.
Gesten II are suitable for experienced piano students, as well as for professionals and dedicated amateurs. Their use is particularly recommended for competitions. The difficulty level of these powerful pieces, some with extreme playing positions and volumes, is largely intermediate.
