Lord, give us peace – a simple plea that is always topical in view of global conflicts and carries a special urgency especially at Christmas time. The three sections of this choral work for four female voices a cappella could have the following titles: Despair – Hope – Confidence. The ostinato in alto 2 runs stoically, tirelessly throughout the entire piece. The clusters that take shape in the first section develop an urgent, desperate plea when soprano 1 enters, that ultimately merges in the already optimistic sounding canon. At the end increasing clusters resound, but this time in major and full of assurance.
