The third volume in the La Femme Chorale series presents the new cycle In the Wake of Music by Christian Bährens, featuring music set to poems by Emily Dickinson. Created in the spring of 2026, the work is dedicated to the Munich-based ENSEMBLE FENICE (directed by Claudia Reinhard), which won first prize in the Contemporary Music category at the 2025 German Choral Festival in Nuremberg.
The selected poems illustrate the energizing power of song in various ways: it breathes life into hope, alleviates loneliness, dispels darkness, and strengthens the bird in its flight. The musical setting of the poems is correspondingly varied, offering a compelling blend of sound and interpretation, while remaining vocally fluid.
