Just as the night - brightly illuminated by the rays of the stars and comets - comes to an end with the rising of the sun, life also comes to an end. "With sunrise comes the dawn and with daylight comes the rite, and all that now remains is the mem'ry of our flight; just a dream from the long dark night." Pieter Bezuidenhout conveys these thoughtful words in his dreamy composition – a commissioned work for the TUKS Camerata of Pretoria – and has thus created a highlight for the choral stage that gets under one's skin.
