Manfred Länger has developed his own personally formulated credo from the instrumentally or vocally performed solo melody taken from the thousand-year-old antiphon Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est. The free flow of the antiphon at the beginning of the piece, as a symbol of the infinitely flowing love of God for us, is continued in the credo which emphasizes this love and our potential to keep this love flowing. Alternating between plain and very intense sections and accompanied repeatedly by a solo with the opening melody, this credo – the extended version of the Credo from his missa deus est caritas – comes to an end in the confession of belief in eternal life in love, symbolized through the building up from monophony to a radiant final chord in C major.
