The motet Ave verum corpus was composed as part of a composition commission for an ORF service on 23 August 2015 in which, in addition to arrangements of songs from the new Gotteslob (hymn book for German-speaking Catholic dioceses) a new composition should also be heard. The four-part musical tableau is very effective precisely due to its simplicity, never renouncing the concealed F Major key; Frieberger sets corresponding subtle chromatic enrichments to the underlying text.
