The spirited choral piece Pied Beauty was composed in 2011/2012 on behalf of the Chamber Choir of Asia under the direction of John Pamintuan. Michael Ostrzyga has taken that same poem from 1878 by Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844-1889) and set it to music using energetic rhythms. Pied Beauty is musically illustrated through tonal cross-relations; frequent rapid impulsive ornaments capture the liveliness of the poem.
