In his choral work Credo in unum Deum, Elias Praxmarer vividly portrays the not always easy path to peaceful understanding and successful cooperation between the denominations. Thus, at the beginning, fragments of the Latin confession of faith sound deliberately distorted – the content is not yet clear to everyone. An expressive organ interlude leads into the well-known Luther chorale: the central message Wir glauben all an einen Gott (We all believe in one true God) resounds comprehensibly to all and musically powerful in German or English. This very special Credo is highly suitable for large churches and concert halls, but it also has a great impact in a smaller setting.
