Yet the soprano Winnie Brückner proves with her artistic arrangements that time still progresses unceasingly. Suddenly the old masters sound surprisingly modern and up-to-date. Thus a song by John Dowland resembles a spherical art pop song and a roller coaster of emotions is created from a simple Monteverdi aria. Brückner’s convincing arrangements come across as sometimes jazzy and groovy and blur the boundaries between classic, pop and jazz, between yesterday and today, between “serious” music and “popular” music.
