“Three Bird Pieces is a small suite about what might happen if birds lived inside an organ. I was intrigued by the idea that the instrument itself could become a habitat – that something could flutter, call, and respond within its pipes. The three pieces are modern in spirit, yet written to be enjoyable and playable. They’re meant to bring motion, colour, and joy – without the weight of long interpretations or heavy seriousness. Brief moments that simply take flight. The premiere was given by Kirsten Sturm in Munich, with the precision and lightness that the music itself calls for – a reminder that playfulness can be a serious art.”
