Following in its extensive structure in the tradition of the great settings of the Mass, the Missa Lux caelestis by Franz M. Herzog is marked by its outstandingly vivid musical language. All sections of the Mass can also be performed independently of one another. The Sanctus presents itself largely as a calm and smoothly flowing piece, however the section Hosanna in excelsis in particular gives a livelier impression. A lyrical alto solo radiates a very special, tremendously atmospheric air. A stimulating challenge for concert and chamber choirs.
