The popularity of the works by Leonhard de Call (1768 - 1815) is mainly based on their well balanced relation between effort and effect: using simple technical and musical means he managed to compose charming and catchy miniatures. 

The solo pieces of this collection as well as the sonatas are usually more or less arrangements of such miniatures.
