This touching aria originates from the Notebook that Johann Sebastian Bach wrote for his second wife, the singer Anna Magdalena. In the sensitive choral arrangement by Gwyn Arch the principal melody that can be traced back to Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel’s opera Diomedes meanders through all the voices in varied richness. The refined piano accompaniment is closely orientated on Bach’s original. To be sung with German or English lyrics (If You Are Near).
