Johann Strauss (Vater)

1804 – 1849

Johann Strauss (Vater)

Johann Baptist Strauss was an Austrian composer and kapellmeister. In order to avoid confusion with his son of the same name, he is often called Johann Strauss the Elder, also known as Johann Strauss I in English-speaking countries. His best-known work to date is the Radetzky March, which premiered in 1848.
