Marianus Königsperger, who worked as a lay brother in the Benedictine monastery of Prüfening, composed this Missa ruralis in F major op. 6/3, a melodically memorable and easily singable Latin Mass, for smaller church choirs. Individual passages in the soprano and bass, which can also be sung as solos, provide variety and also make a performance with a very small setting possible. A well-composed little Mass that with simple means complements every church service even today.
